What’s a KuCoin API Key?
Think of a KuCoin API key as a secure bridge between your exchange account and Alpha Impact. It’s like a special password that allows Alpha Impact to view your trading activity (and execute trades if you allow it) without compromising your account security. Crucially, you control what permissions the API key grants.
Quick Setup Guide for Kucoin API Key Connection
1. Log in to Kucoin
Log in to KuCoin on a web browser and complete Identity Verification. (Skip to Step 3 if already verified).
2. Complete Identity Verification
Select your country and provide the required ID information.
3. Create API
Go to “API Management” in the left-hand menu bar and click “Create API”.
4: Enable Permissions
Spot & Margin Trading: Must be enabled if you want others to automatically copy your trades or to unlock smart risk management features.
Whitelist IPs (Highly Recommended): For extra security, whitelist these IP addresses: 52.220.91.198 and 13.213.195.58.
5: Complete Security Verification
Complete 2FA verification and save both your API Key and Secret Key. Don’t share them with anyone, not even us!
Note: You’ll need to complete Identity Verification first before creating API keys.
Connecting to Alpha Impact
1. Log in to app.alphaimpact.fi
Open Alpha Impact, find “Linked Portfolios” from the left-hand menu bar, and click “Add”.
2. Enter Kucoin API Key Credentials
Enter your KuCoin API Key and Secret Key. Remember, “Spot & Margin Trading” must be enabled if you wish to monetise your profile and set up TP/SL triggers.
3. View your portfolio
Your portfolio will now be visible!

Linking Your Kucoin Portfolio FAQ
1. Why do I need to create an API key?
It securely connects your KuCoin account to Alpha Impact, allowing us to display your portfolio and facilitate copy trading. We cannot withdraw funds.
2. Is it safe to share my API credentials with Alpha Impact?
Yes. When you whitelist our IP addresses (52.220.91.198 and 13.213.195.58), only Alpha Impact can use your API key. Never share your Secret Key with anyone else.
3. Do I have to whitelist the IP addresses?
No, but we strongly recommend it. It’s an extra security step that ensures only Alpha Impact can use your API key.
4. Why do I need Spot & Margin Trading permissions?
You need these permissions if you want others to copy your trades or to unlock our advanced risk management services. Without them, people can still view your portfolio but can’t copy your trades.
5. What if I lose my API Secret Key?
Delete the old API key on Kucoin and make a new one. You can’t recover a lost Secret Key.
6. Can everyone see my portfolio?
Yes, your basic trading activity will be public. However, you can choose to put more in-depth analytics under a paywall.
7. What should I do if I can’t connect my account?
Check these common fixes:
- Verify your API credentials are typed correctly
- Make sure all permissions are turned on
- Check that the IP addresses are entered correctly
8. Can I connect more than one Kucoin account?
Yes. Create a new API key for each account and add them separately in “Linked Portfolios.”
9. How do I disconnect my Kucoin account?
You can disconnect your Kucoin account in two ways:
- Delete the API key in your Kucoin account
- Remove the connection in Alpha Impact under “Linked Portfolios”
